SEOUL, Aug. 6 (Yonhap) -- Hanwha Corp. said Thursday it will hold the Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2026 on Sept. 5 at Yeouido Hangang Park in western Seoul.
The annual event, hosted by Hanwha Group since 2000 as part of its corporate social responsibility activities, is one of South Korea's largest festivals, attracting more than 1 million visitors each year.
This year's festival has been moved to early September, about three weeks earlier than last year, in consideration of the Chuseok holiday period and anticipated demand from international visitors.
Fireworks teams from South Korea, the United States and the United Kingdom will take part in this year's event.
Hanwha said it will further strengthen safety measures by deploying a record 4,700 personnel for crowd control and safety management, including 1,200 employee volunteers, during the eve of the festival and on the event day.
The company will also use Orange Safety, a real-time crowd density monitoring system developed in cooperation with telecommunications providers, to help disperse crowds. In addition, CCTV cameras installed around Yeouido, Wonhyo Bridge, and the Mapo and Ichon areas will be used to monitor pedestrian movement in real time and improve on-site response capabilities.
A Hanwha official said the company is preparing a more diverse festival this year with new fireworks displays as well as expanded cultural and tourism programs, adding that ensuring public safety remains its top priority.
