SEOUL, Oct. 14 (Yonhap) -- K-pop supergroup BTS' fifth studio album "Arirang" has surpassed 5 billion cumulative streams on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, the group's agency BigHit Music said Wednesday.
It is the most-streamed album released this year, with about 2 billion more streams than Olivia Rodrigo's third studio album, which ranks second, according to the agency.
BigHit Music said the achievement is particularly notable compared with new albums by global pop stars such as Bruno Mars and Harry Styles, which have garnered around 1 billion-2 billion streams over a similar period.
All 14 tracks on "Arirang" have surpassed 200 million streams, with the title track "SWIM" nearing 1 billion streams.
Among them, "No.29," which consists solely of the enigmatic sound of the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok, has also surpassed 200 million streams, drawing particular attention.
"Arirang" drew widespread attention as the group's first full-group release in three years and nine months, bringing together the members who have been at the forefront of the K-pop boom.
The album surpassed 110 million total streams on its release day, March 20.
"Arirang" also topped the Billboard 200, Billboard's main albums chart, for three consecutive weeks, becoming the first group album to achieve the feat since Mumford & Sons' "Babel" in 2012.
